This year it is 20 years since Sabira Stahlberg’s first Easy to Read book Miranda was published. Since then Sabira has written more than 20 Easy to Read books and many blogs about Easy to Read books and reading.
Sabira is the most productive Easy to Read author writing in Swedish in Finland. She has also presented Easy to Read literature at book fairs both in Finland and internationally and lectured about Easy to Read at different events. Sabira’s work includes further video channels on YouTube about Easy to Read and scientific research about the topic.
In 2015 Sabira established the Bokpil project together with study techniques teacher and Easy to Read illustrator Maria Viitasalo. Bokpil introduced among others language levels into the Swedish-language Easy to Read literature in Finland and developed the innovative concept Pedagogical Easy to Read. New directions and courageous initiatives characterise the work of Bokpil.
Nowadays Bokpil is a publisher and part of a non-profit organisation. Bokpil publishes Easy to Read books in several languages, including minority and endangered languages. Around sixty people around Europe participate in Team Bokpil.
